Responding to Love with Love

Today’s Gospel, John 3:13-17, is not just a declaration of divine love—it is also a call to respond.

That’s the heart of the message. God so loved the world that He gave. God gave His Son, His life, everything for us. And through that generous, sacrificial love, we have been offered the gift of eternal life.

This is where stewardship begins—not with obligation, but with gratitude. Stewardship is our grateful response when we recognize that everything we are and everything we have is a gift from God. When we truly understand what God has done for us, stewardship becomes a natural response. How can we keep to ourselves what God has so generously entrusted to us?

Our time is sacred. In a world that rushes, we are called to be present to others, to listen deeply, and to make space for God in the ordinary. Our time given in love—to family, parish, neighbor, or stranger—is time that reflects the presence of Christ.

Our talents are for mission. We each have unique talents that are meant to be shared. Some of us may be good at organizing, singing, teaching, fixing things, cooking, encouraging or comforting others. Every talent is valuable in the life of our parish and in fulfilling the mission of the Church.

Our treasure is a sign of trust. When we share our financial resources, it is a sign that we believe that God is the source of everything. We give back out of love and with the belief that God will multiply what we give. Our treasure maintains our sacred spaces, supports our ministries, sustains our outreach programs, and brings hope where it is needed most.

To live intentionally as a good steward is a blessing. It is who we become as true disciples of Christ. Let us not keep our gifts to ourselves. Instead, let us live with gratitude, give with joy, and serve with love. In these ways, all will see God’s marvelous love through us!
